Books
I get asked often about what management books I would suggest to people. It’s a simple enough question but, I think you have to take into account what they’re looking for.
I would suggest the following for the listed scenarios:
First time manager or basic management book – One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard
This is a great place to start for really anyone. Basic principles, very practical and easy to use information. Plus, as you progress, there are books like Leadership and the One Minute Manager in the same series that compound and reinforce each book.
Now, compared to the regular person who watches lots of TV and Netflix (I watch very little of each), I read quite a few books (thank you Kindle) and listen to even more (thank you Audible). So I have my favorites currently and my favorites of all time. These below would be more of the favorites of all time… and maybe a few recently.
There is a long list of books that has inspired me and pushed me forward at different times and for different reasons. Here are a few and what they did for me…If I had to pick a few…
One minute Millionaire by Robert Allen & Mark Victor Hansen – Inspired me to be an entrepreneur and start my own companies.
Good to Best by Jim Collins – Showed me that good was the enemy of great and that I needed to aspire for great.
Awaken the Giant Within and Money: Master the Game by Tony Robbins – Taught me about the greatness that is Tony Robbins, and helped me see that I was the only person standing in my way of becoming who I wanted to be.
